Audio Systems: multiroom stereo, 4 ohms, 4 ohm speakers

Question
I'm installing stereo sound in 4 rooms. I have the receiver but was wondering about speakers.  Can I just buy basic speakers or do I need some subwoofers?  I'm not all about perfect sound but is this a necessity?  Thanks you

Answer
Subwoofers are nice to enhance the bass response and performance of the system.  They are noted for adding more to the sound quality than many other "add-ons" or enhancements.  But it is purely a subjective decision.

BUT:  You must be very careful about wiring up your multi-room system.  If you are going to connect two or more room systems to the receiver you must watch the impedance match of the speakers. If your receiver is rated at 4 ohms and you use 4 ohm speakers then when two systems are running the impedance on each amplifier would be 2 ohms which would be dangerous to the receiver.  Let me k now if you have questions about this.

Most multi-room systems use separate power amps for each room system for the reasons above.

If you come back for a followup be sure and give me model numbers and speakers you are intending to use and how many rooms you are driving.
