Audio Systems: Toyota Sienna Mp3 after market, auxiliary input adapter, mp3 adapter

Question
I have a 2005 Sienna with the JBL audio system but without the factory dvd player. Is/Are the mp3 adapter(s) specific to the brand/type of mp3 player (Ipod,Zune,Philips...) or does it matter? (I am curious because I have both Philips and Zune players and will probably end up with an Iphone thrown into the bargain in the near future)
