Audio Systems: speakers, self powered speakers, lsu game

Question
i have klipsch speakers that i am trying to hook up to a lcd tv, they are self powered but they dont have a receiver and the audio plug is the single plug. (like on an ipod) I cant get the tv to play audio from the speakers, i hooked it to a cable box, and directly to the tv, and checked all the audio settings. when i hook them up to the computer they work fine. can you help me out I want to watch the lsu game in surround sound

Answer
Can't give you a specific results without the make and model number of your tv and the speakers.  They are all different and the connections are model specific.

Most newer LCD tvs have only digital coax or optical outputs.  Most of the Klipsch self powered speakers have rca inputs.  Cable boxes may have analog or digital output, depending on the box.

I suspect your Klipsch speakers are using  a PC type input connection which is based on a stereo or 5.1 feed line.  And, if your tv has only digital audio out you will need to add a surround receiver which can receive the digital cable from the tv.

If the tv DOES have analog out they would be rca jacks.  If the speaker amps have rca inputs you will be okey so long as the tv has variable audio level output.

If you can give me model numbers I can answer your question very specifically.

See you then.
