I just had a gm dealer installed portable dvd player installed in my new 2009 yukon xl.  When we put in a dvd.. it shows wrong region... cant figure it out

Answer
I have not seen this personally but it has been brought up enough to suggest using an after-market portable (that is, if the problem is not in the 'headunit to portable device' interface).
Sadly, without seeing it in real life I do not have the data to tell you if that is the case or not but an aftermarket portable might be a good resolve if you are willing and provided that you can hook it up to the rest of the factory Yukon system.
Try talking to a Rep at www.crutchfield.com to see about the compatibility of some of their after-market portable players. They are your best bet for dealing with any new vehicle multimedia systems.

*Realize that if they say 'this aftermarket portable will bolt right in' [and then your interface adapter on the factory system is what is 'bad'] then you just wasted that money on the new portable.
They are good..  so sharp in fact, that in the end they may tell you something like this:
I wish I could assist you more but this is a new vehicle situation where the support is lagging the problem from the factory and you really need this looked at by a professional installer to hopefully prevent you from too much ado (as in testing your unit in another vehicle or trying a new aftermarket portable, ect..).
Start by calling Crutchfield ;)
Good luck, thanks for using AllExperts and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
