Audio Systems: Making the Ford 03 Taurus Cd Changer into an Audio In, portable cd player, ford taurus

Question
I have the idea but no knowledge on car audio systems, and need to know how to go about doing this.

Specs:
03 Ford Taurus with the cd changer located in the trunk

I'm looking to get to the wiring of the cd changer and splice it to connect a "jack" (my terminology is wrong I know), in order to create an aux. in, of which I would theoretically be able to connect to an mp3 player, I don't care the work involved I just do not want to buy a new deck for my car just to play an ipod when I know it can be done like this for much less.

What is the name of the wiring I'm looking for?  I can do things like splice wires and stuff, but I have no idea the names of the wiring that I am supposed to mold together etc.  I have an electrician as a father who could help me once I find the right equipment, etc.

I appreciate that you guys/girls do this for free, it's very valuable.

Go to:

http://www.installer.com/ipod/index.php

or

www.crutchfield.com

and plow through their "outfit my car" sequence and it will give you the options you need.

It is generally a little box that has the cables and connectors to allow an iPod or MP3 player or portable cd player to interface into your system.

Check the model of the units installed in your Taurus so you get the right adapter for it.
