Audio Systems: 2000 Chevy Cavalier factory stereo problem, 2000 chevy cavalier, chevy cavalier

Question
The factory radio/CD player in my 2000 Z24 started acting real strange. Out of nowhere the with the car turned off the clock was running real fast, like when you set go to set it. If You push any buttons the clock stops for a minute or two then you hear a single beep and it starts running again. If you turn the tuning control the clock stops, goes out for a minute or two ,you hear a beep and it starts running again. All this with the keys not even in the car! At first there was a CD playing when you had the power on and only the volume worked, no other functions responded. I pulled the fuse and when I put it back in the radio is now on. Please help.

Answer
sounds like a data comunication problem , the radio needs to comunicate with the vehicle computer to turn on
there is problem and that comunication is not working , when that happends
the radio will work with the key ON ford a few minutes in acc mode  not in ignition or with the engine on

vehicle needs to be plug in to  GM SCAN TOOL only the dealer have one , not your local mechanic
good luck

don't by a radio from the junk yard, it is not going to work
