Audio Systems: 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, ford explorer sport, alpine cda 9857

Question
so i removed the factory radio, installed my alpine cda-9857. everything went smooth. hooked up the ipod cable. turned it on, then i noticed something. no sound.

i dont think the wiring harnesses are defective, because everything seems to work, except the sound. dimmer, memory, everything, all works. and before making all the connections, i checked all the wires to make sure none were loose or anything like that.

one thing i am curious about, there were two connections to the back of the factory stereo. one was the normal one, and one was a smaller one. i disregarded the smaller one, and am now wondering if that is the amp or something. and if it is necessary to connect, where does it go and how does it integrate into the aftermarket system?

any insight would be great.

thanks for advance.

Answer
the small connector is for the rear seat controls and factory woofer if you have  one

the problem is that you didn't connectthe ground for the amplifier  black with white stripe

you also need to connect the blue wire from the apine radio to turn on the factory amplifier
good luck
