Audio Systems: 1996 Ford Explorer 6-CD Changer, ford cd, 57 ford

Question
I just got a 1996 Ford Explorer. In the center console there is the 6-CD Changer. I tried to put in a CD and I got the message "No DJ", I looked that up and found that it means it could be disconnected or not communicating. I removed it to find that it was disconnected. I reconnected it, inserted a CD, but got the message "NO CD". It will load the CD if I hold the magazine down and hold the "CD" button on the radio. It loads it and will play the CD, but as soon as you stop holding the CD Magazine down, it will rise up and the CD will stop playing. I can't get the magazine to stay down.

Is there any way I can fix this? Do I need a new magazine? Do I have to get an entirely new CD Changer?

Answer
You have a bad cd changer there is nothing wrong with the stereo or  the cd magazine

ford laser inside cd changer only last 5 to 7 years
repair the unit any car audio repair will replace the laser inside
