Audio Systems: radio dont work, car sequence, bench test

Question
just got 92 chevy suburban form this guy. Radio don't work there is no lights no time no nothing! checked fuse its good! what else can i do?

Answer
About the only thing you can do is bring the unit out and bench test it - or, of course, replace it with a new one.

If you pull it out you can rig up some wires from the battery and hook up a known good speaker to one of the amp outputs and then try each channel one by one.

Here is a wiring guide for GM products of your era that may help you check over the wiring situation.

If you decide to purchase a new radio unit I suggest you go to www.crutchfield.com and work through their "outfit your car" sequence to find a unit that will fit properly in your vehicle.  You needn't purchase a new unit from them, but if you do, they will supply you with installation instructions and a wiring harness to make the installation easy.

Best wishes,
