Audio Systems: 2005 chevy impala, auxiliary input adapter, chevrolet 2002

Question
I've been reading on replacing my stereo in my impala and it seems if i go to a non factory stereo i lose a lot of the cars functions. i was wondering i could use a oem stereo out of 2005 Aveo and not lose the functionality but gain the ability to play mp3 cds which is what I'm after.

yes you lose a lot of functions , and warnings like low fuel no rpms
the radio from the aveo is not going to work  
also any other gm radio needs to be program into your vehicle to work
if not it will lock in 3 seconds

you can also plug your ipod or mp3 to your factory radio
