Audio Systems: no power to aiwa compact disc stereo system, power fuse, radio reception

Question
QUESTION: we have xs-g3 model aiwa system.  After moving to different home, we cannot get system to work.  Cannot get any response from system. We cannot find answer to this problem in manual.  Does it need antenas?  Cant remember or find any.  Would this cause the problem?  Thanks for any info you can provide.

ANSWER: I assume that you are referring to radio reception. Have you tried other sources. If so and a CD player works then your system works but your radio doesn't. Please be more specific and I will try to help you.

QUESTION: we cannot get anything.  no lights, no radio, no cd or tape.  Could not find this question answered anywhere else, including the manual.

Answer
No lights indicates that there is a problem with power. First check the power cable. If it is a removable cable be sure it is firmly pushed into the connector on the back of the unit. Another possible problem is the power fuse which is generally not user serviceable on a compact.  If that is the case it could very well mean that there is an amplifier problem that caused the fuse to blow. As I am sure that the unit is out of warranty, it would then need to be looked at by an authorized technician. Aiwa's website can give you the locations for service. If you do take it into service don't hesitate to write to me when they've estimated the cost for repair. I will tell you if I think it's worth it.
