Audio Systems: Subwoofer, pilot light, click sound

Question
Hi,
I have a Phillips HTS3440 DivX Ultra DVD and Home theater combo that I got as a wedding present about two years ago. About a year after getting it I had a problem. When the DVD player was being powered on the light on the sub would come on and make a click sound and then it would activate. That was all normal until one day it stopped working. You would turn it on and the light on the sub would light up but it would never make that click sound and no sound ever came out again. I read online about some people who has a similar problem with this model and they said it was a specific fuse. Its been so long since I looked it I cant remember what fuse it was or where I read it and I really want to try and get it to work again. I did all the trouble shooting things like plugging in each individual speaker one at a time and starting it to see if a certain speaker was throwing it off but ive done that a ton of times and and none of the speakers have ever worked. I was hoping you could help.

Answer
I don't understand what the question is.   Let me understand:  Is it the subwoofer that is not working or are all the speakers not working?

Is it just the lamp on the sub that does or does not come on; or does the main pilot light not come on either.

In any event, I am sorry to say, Philips units are not known for their reliability and it is most likely it will need to go in for repair.  The problem with the unit may be a fuse, but just replacing the fuse does not often solve the problem that caused the fuse to go in the first place.

Since you have already disconnected the speakers and checked them one at a time to make sure it is not a shorted speaker that is causing the problem then it is more likely, as above, the set has some more serious internal problems that will require testing and diagnosis.

Sorry; if there is more to the story please let me know.
