Audio Systems: Blu-ray hdmi, mitsubishi dlp tv, component cables

Question
QUESTION: Wayne, my kids gave me a Sony blu-ray.  My problem is my receiver does not have an hdmi port.  My system consists of the blu-ray; verizon fios cable box; Denon receiver and a Mitsubishi DLP tv with one hdmi port.  When I play my blu-ray now it only shows it in 480i and the tv is capable of 1080i.  At present I am using component cables from the blu-ray.  Suggestions welcome!  Thanks, Karl

ANSWER: You'll need to go into the Sony Blu-Ray setup menu and set your video output resolution to 1080i.
I have a Sony, and had the same issue, but it's an easy fix.

QUESTION: The Blu-Ray is set to 1080i.  Any thoughts on the hdmi part of my question?

Answer
Were you getting 1080i resolution from any other device? Normally, component video (RGB) output from a Blu-Ray is 1080i. Are you going directly into the TV or thru the receiver?

If you could give me your signal path, I may be able to assist you better.

I also noticed on my Sony Blu Ray player, even though I had the setup menu at 1080p, while I play a movie, I'm able to switch the resolution regardless of what the menu is originally set at.
