Audio Systems: Pioneer DEH-P3000IB Wiring, pioneer deh, rear speakers

Question
ive just bought a new pioneer DEH-P3000IB and am having a bit of trouble wiring it. to be more specific i cant get the rear speakers and the sub to go at the same time. i have all the cords on the wiring harness wired up correctly (i know that for a fact), and i have 2 rca leads (red, white) running from the rear output on the headunit to the rear speaker channels on my amp. i noticed for some reason the subwoofer is wired upto the front speaker inputs on the amp. not sure why its done this way, i think the front speakers are stock standard and shit so they are directly wired to the headunit without going through the amp. i have tried all available preout options and the like on the actual headunit. if i have it to rear speaker: full and preout: subwoofer the rear speakers dont work for some strange reason. so i have left both the settings as rear speaker:full and preout: rear and for some reason my rear speakers work fine (although i did blow one earlier today when i found the "loudness" setting. the subwoofer works with it all setup like this however the headunit wont recognise it as theres no little subby icon on the display.
which is the actual problem here. as theres no subwoofer icon it means the unit isnt recognising it and i cant access a few other equalizer options because of that. its obviously a problem with the way its wired up. its doing my head in! pretty hard to explain in writing but if u have any ideas please let me know.
thankyou

Answer
If you have went through this much trouble already, why not just replace the rest of the factory setup? 99% of your woes are because you are trying to interface to the (unspecified) factory system. I have been there.. money is tight, you upgrade what you can, but you are basically trying to polish a turd until it is all replaced. :/
You might re-read the manual on the various functions of the different pre-out options as well since they can be a little confusing (especially when trying to interface to a factory system) but in the end you will very likely need to make some compromises in your expectations as you wait on the next upgrades.

Crutchfield.com can really help when trying to interface to any factory system (but unless you purchase the headunit or other items though them it will be very basic support).
With factory component systems, I have nearly always found that it is best to just wait until you can afford to replace it all.
