Audio Systems: infinity, farad cap, mono load

Question
Hey hope you can help! i have a 2000 eclipse and i have done many system installs but i want 2 do this one to be pretty haha! i just bought the Infinity Reference REF1220DE (1220DE) I also have the Infinity 1600 A amp (600 rms) and the Infinity ref 611A (657 rms) Will this be to many watts, i read it was 1200 rms and i read 600 rms for the subs! Confused!! Also 4 gauge or 8 gauge! Also i had 300 rms once running but had kinetic battery should i get another one or maybe a cap! sorry i know this long i just don't want to hurt the subs! i have a pioneer premier 6000 as my head unit as of now hoping to replace in next month with a pioneer double din touch screen! Thank you for your time!!!! PS are clarion dvd/cd players any good!!

Answer
Clarion Rocks..  Go with 4 gauge and a 1 Farad cap. The extra battery will only give you more run time when the engine is off.

You can run 600 RMS through the subs.
The issue is whether you wire them at 2 or 8 ohms in mono.
I would run the Infinity ref 611A and wire the speakers in parallel for a 2 Ohm mono load. This will give you 300 watts per speaker.
Having 600 to each one will not give that much more volume and they should last a long time at 300 watts. As efficient as those speakers are (97 Db @ 1 watt), you should be fine.  The math shows well over 120 DB with just one speaker. Two should give you an easy 130Db+ when measured using A-weighting.
I competed and took the podium for years using 1/4 RMS to my well-loaded subs. The real key is 'well-loaded' and that Infinity box should work great in that respect.

Good luck and thanks for the question.
