Audio Systems: audio, speech articulation, music reproduction

Question
Hello

I am considering a micro system JVC ex-A10 (they call it "theater "  system...)  .  However, at the same time, I am considering switching from my current TV set - to a new plasma or LCD.
1 Is it possible, (and recommended) to connect and enjoy the JVC EX-A10 to the new TV set and get a good sound out of it?
2 Will this sound be as good or almost as good as a real surrounding sound, the one that has these about 5  narrow speakers?

3 Or, is it better to get a separate system - one for the TV and another for CD's music?

Thank you,    Gabe

Answer
You asked a very intelligent question. Most people don't consider the differences. One can spend a good deal of money for surround sound equipment and still not get an accurate music reproduction system when listening to stereo. Serious listening and theater sound are put together in very different ways. In theater speech articulation needs to be crystal clear so you can make out the words. Unrealistic visceral bass frequencies are designed to arouse your emotions in an unorthodox way. For my part, I prefer not to be distracted by someones wet dream of how the sound field is processed for each speaker in system. If you had the ideal system you would want to listen to a sweet spot smack dab in the middle of the sound field To precisely hear a sound in a 360 degree field.

In the end the room that your viewing TV will have a good deal of effect on your system. You can get creative by pointing speaker against walls, play with the eq, etc. Experimenting cant hurt
