Audio Systems: CD/VHS/Stereo System, vhs stereo, sony stereo

We have a Sony stereo system that worked wonderful for almost 15 years.  Now, we cannot get any sound.  Everything looks like it is working, but no sound.  We checked the speakers and everything is in tact.  Hope you can help, Marilyn

Marilyn, I know this is probably not the answer you want to hear but the simple facts are, all manufacturers phase out serviceable parts for equipment after 5 to 7 years(planned obsolescence). The fact that in this day and age it gave you great pleasure for 15 years is to Sony's credit. If you were to take it to a center for service, it would probably cost at least half as much as a new system. Moreover, the minute you pick the unit up, there's no guarantee that it will work for more than a day. There are many bargains for new stereo systems on line from Ebay to Amazon. That's my recommendation.
