Audio Systems: Extra Speakers, pioneer speakers, speaker selectors

Question
Hi,
I have a Pioneer VSX-D411 with a set of Pioneer speakers (5.1). I now decided to put a new set of speakers on another room of the house and don't know how I can connect these new speakers to my system.
Researching the web, I saw some comments on external speaker selectors, but I'm not sure which ones would work with my system.
Can you guys help me out?
Thank you very much!

Answer
If your receiver has an A/B switch system and a second set of speaker connections on the back panel you can wire directly to them.  But, do not run both sets of speakers at the same time as that will place a wrong impedance on the amplifiers.

You can purchase speaker switches at electronics stores.  Walmart sometimes carries them; Radio Shack and online suppliers have them, too.  You can find stereo switches (2 channel) at many places for under $10; and just use two of them.

You can google around and find various solutions.  In the URL above it refers to Niles, a manufacturer of many kinds of switching devices.

Good Luck,
