Audio Systems: car cd/dvd player problem, impala ls, fuse box

Question
I have a 2004 impala ls and i recently got a cd player with a pop out screen and i had the wiring harness and everything. It worked the first time but when i took it out to install the amp wires the harness (gmos1) broke so i got a new one. But while it was being shipped i put my stock radio in and it didnt turn on and once i got the harness i hooked it back and now the aftermarket radio wont work. Could this mean i blown a fuse or i shorted a wire? I hope its nothing majior!

Please help me im worried because i dont want it to be nothing majior! thanks for all your help

sincerley,
Neil

Answer
I suppose it is something simple.  Often a fuse goes out when wires accidentally touch each other - and you may not have noticed it. So, check the fuse box for an open fuse.  There are two boxes in the car; one in the engine compartment under the hood, usually near the battery stuff, and another inside under the dash usually between the steering column and the door frame, somewhere.

You can buy fuse kits at Walmart and car parts houses.

Check the harness to make sure it is really the right one.

However, the gmos1 is an onstar interface kit and is not for the 04 Impala according to the spec sheet at

so you might want to check that out.

Let me know if you get stuck.
