Audio Systems: Power cable install, vauxhall astra, rubber gasket

Question
I want to put a power cable from the front Engin bay to the back of my vauxhall astra 1.6 si It was made in 2000.can you tell me how to get the cable from the engine through the firewall to the inside of the car. It would be a great help.

Answer
It is up to your own craftiness and inventive ability.  Usually, you can find a grommet or hole with a rubber gasket that allows the wire to be jimmied through without allowing fumes to enter the cabin. Check around the steering column where it come through and see if there is enough space accordingly.  If you end up drilling a hole make sure you use a grommet or seal that will keep the fumes from the engine compartment from coming into the cabin.

A last resort is to run the wire down under the car along the chassis and up through some hole in the back end of the vehicle.

Does that sound plausible?
