Audio Systems: Fm tuner trouble, sony home theater, sony home theater system

I am having problems with my stereo receiver. It will not pick up any fm or am radio staions. I have bought an amplified antenna and still nothing....I don't even hear any static coming out of the speakers, just dead silence. When I hit the tuner button to start scanning for a station it never stops...it just keeps on going. I have a sony home theater system the model number is STR-K7000....Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time :-)

Troubleshooting a component without the benefit of putting it on a bench with sources and speakers is a crap shoot. I can only make recommendations for further testing. Can you hear anything from another source (ie CD, tape, cable box)? If you get sound from other sources that would indicate that there is a failure in the RF section of the receiver and you would need to take it into an authorized service station.
