Audio Systems: Chrysler radio, radio units, radio unit

Question
I just installed a used Chrysler radio in my 2003 Concorde Limited. The radio has a sales code ‘RBP’, Part No. P05091606AD. The radio is satellite ready. My question is, what does satellite ready mean? I have found aftermarket adapters for the radio, but I have to disconnect the factory 6 disk changer. I am trying to connect an IPOD but I don’t want to lose my cd changer. Can I run both thru this radio.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
Sat ready means there is provision for connecting the satellite receiver into the radio unit.  It takes an adapter like this one:

http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=xmdxmdcpk

which is for XM.  Sirius may use another so you must check it out.

In order to be sure which adapter to purchase please contact www.installer.com or crutchfield.com who know the models and the radio units because of their database on all cars, radios and kits.

Also, check this web page - which has some reliable information for the job you are doing:

http://replacementradios.com/product_info.php?sale=Chrysler-1998-2007-%27Oval%27...(RBP)&products_id=72

Since this is a custom install I don't want to mislead you into a specific kit; you are going to have to do enough research to make sure the radio unit matches the kit you need before you make the purchase.

Best wishes,
C
PS: There may be another connector that you will need to purchase to keep the cd changer working, too.  See the bottom references in the Chrysler page above.
