Answer
That's a tough one. The reason is, that if there are 100 jobs there's 10,000 people looking for that job..

I'll tell you what I did. Back in the 60's I went to school for engineering. At the same time I was progamming music, playing music, working in the field of audio. Then I worked in A/V parts, from there I became a repair technician for a well known audio company. Then I went on the road with a famous music group called Seals & Crofts (they played venues on the first Elton John tour). Then I worked for a company that installed home sound and control systems. Then a year with Atlantic recording corporation as a maintenance engineer. Then I was an independent jazz engineer; recorded and produced a platinum dance record, started my own company (first job installing the sound system in Hard Rock Cafe NYC). Now I have a new company where I manufacture my own product.

If you want a shortcut I'm not the guy to ask even though I know there are rare cases where you can be in the right place at the right time. I'm in New York City. It may be easier to break into the business from a small town or another country.

The first requirement is that you are driven to the point where you do as much as humanly possible whatever you want to do and the other is that you listen first and take in everything that you learn, always. The learning curve never stops.

As far as education. Find a liberal arts school with a good program in the type of arts that you interested in.
