Audio Systems: NO SOUND, external amplifier, gm factory

i have a 1990 chevy S 10  pick up and the factory stereo went out so i changed it to a j v c  stereo and it was working fine for about a two weeks and then one day i got in and had no sound the cd player and radio said it is working but still no sound i checked the wires behind the stereo and the fuses and everything seems to be ok..  if you can help me out please let me know

How did you wire it up?  Did you use a wiring harness for the model truck and match the wires properly to the jvc unit?

Is there an external amplifier in the truck or is the jvc driving the speaker systems directly from its amp output?

Go to installer.com and find the wiring harness you are supposed to be using for your vehicle and that will tell you if you have the right one.

Also, Here is a couple of wiring charts for GM products that might help you to check if the connections are right.  For example, if you got some wires crossed you could still have sound, but an overloading of the amplifiers in the jvc unit.
