Audio Systems: fourwheeler speakers, automatic volume control, flood water

Question
Hey, its me again. Thanks for all the previous help and ill try to give you more details this time. My price range would probably at the most be $450 but its shouldnt cost that much for speakers that small i wouldnt think, but i dont no your the expert i might be able to bend a little with the price. I dont no exactly what you mean when you asked wat kind of application you are talking about so I'll answer that next time. The fourwheeler I am using is a 450 yamaha wolverine 4x4 (on command)with everything stock exept a winch and a rack on the back. I mainly use it riding trails in the woods with hard bumps and high speeds and I do go through the occasional flood water which would most likely cover at least half of the speakers if not the whole thing.        And I aint much of of the audio type savy but like in my first question I was still wondering about the main component of the audio system, becuase I have a sound system in my room and I dont no exactly what you call the middle part that sits in between the speakers. I was also wonder about the output I would get for that kind a price, if I would only be able to hear it when I stop or slow down of when I am going all out down some backroads which i seriously doubt. I dont know how you will know exactly how you will know the amount of noise mi fourwheeler make unless you went on YouTube and looked up my fourwheeler but even that wouldnt give you the exact amount of noise it makes but at least its a general idea.
If I can be of any further asistance feel free to contact me. Once again thanks a lot.

                   Thanks,

Answer
Yes, that is the very question!  The Yamaha is quite noisy when at full throttle and you would need a pretty strong system to overcome the engine noise level.  You would need some kind of automatic volume control mechanism to lower the level when the machine noise goes up and down.

Have you checked with Yamaha for such accessories?  The environmental requirements for outdoor usage is quite severe and they would already know what kind of system is needed.

Lastly, most riders that I know of use a headphone driven system to avoid the speaker issues already mentioned.  That is maybe something to consider.

And, if the speakers were not mounted just right they would be candidates for early destruction at the first spill or wrap around a tree, don't you think.

And, if the power amplifier gets pretty hefty in order to produce the big sound you will need it may overwhelm the battery and electrical system of the Yamaha - which is a small battery and even smaller alternator.

My suggestion is to check out a good mp3 player that might do the job for you.

If you insist of having an acoustic system, got to a good mobile or marine retail store where they sell such products for outside usage and get some ideas of products that are on the market.  Any good boat store has a few choices that might be really easy to fit on to your Yamaha whizzer.

Hope this helps.
