Audio Systems: bose amp on nissan, bose amp, jvc car stereo

Question
i have a nissan maxima 1996.. i tring to connect a jvc car stereo with the harness for the cable to the original spekers and factory amp bose,,, but is not work.. what i doing work or what cable i have not connect??

Answer
That year Bose system is completely non-standard and will not interface with conventional equipment such as JVC, Pioneer and ordinary manufacturers.  Sorry to say  but you must gut out the entire system, speakers, amp and all. Then replace them with new equipment.  Since you have already replaced the dash unit I suggest you go ahead and replace the Bose amps and speakers.  Bose uses 1 ohm speakers and a special driving amp so they will not interface with any equipment.

BUT:  There may be a chance of converting the output of your JVC with sufficient voltage to drive the Bose power amp system but I don't know the specific converter that you would need.  Go to:

http://www.installer.com/hilo/index.php

and scroll down to the nissan/infiniti cable adapters.  But, I would call them to see if  you also don't need the signal booster to bring the output level up to match the Bose amps.  (Most Bose amps require 2.5 v of audio drive whereas everyone else uses the 1v standard).  Also, some models during your era of Bose had individual amps mounted right inside the speaker baskets and a high drive signal was sent to the speaker/amp unit.  So, you will have to check that out as well.  You can tell if the amp is located inside the speaker by making a physical examination of one or two of them.  (And they were mixed on some models, so you must examine to know for sure).

Sorry if this sounds confusing, but intermixing with Bose is a dangerous adventure!   I have found that Crutchfield is very knowledgeable about these things and so a phone call to the techs at crutch and installer.com may be very beneficial to help you bridge the problem  - if it can be done.
