Audio Systems: Sub Application, ohm voice coils, 1000 watt amp

Question
Hi i have a 15" Type R Alpine sub. I have the specifications below. My question is to what kind of box i should put it in, sealed or ported. I will be putting it in a single sub box and will be powering it with a Sony 1000 watt amp.

SPECIFICATIONS
15" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
Kevlar-reinforced pulp cone with Santoprene rubber surround
Cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting
Power range: 400-750 watts RMS (2000 watts peak power)
Frequency response: 20-400 Hz
Sensitivity: 87 dB
Mounting depth: 9-5/16"
Sealed box volume: 1.3-2.5 cu. ft.
Ported box volume: 1.5-3.0 cu. ft.

Answer
Sealed box volume: 1.3-2.5 cu. ft.
Ported box volume: 1.5-3.0 cu. ft.

It depends on what you want.

Sealed = SQ(Sound Quality) most accuarate for bass reproduction

Ported = SPL(Sound Pressure level) exaggerated bass for the BOOM

A sub in a ported enclosure cannot tolerate as much power as being in a sealed enclosure.

Check the RMS of the amp with a 2 ohm load. Make sure it's between 400-750 watts RMS. Wire the subs like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/SINGLE-PARALLEL.jpg
