Audio Systems: camaro fuse, chevy camaro, inline fuse

Question
i don't have a fuse in my camaro for the radio. what kind do i need to get. the car is a 1990 chevy camaro, v6. we bought some at the auto parts store but they are not the right ones

Answer
Here is what you should do:  Take out a fuse from the box next to the one that is missing; got into the car parts shop and choose one that has the same physical size and configuration.  There are about 4 different types used in cars now days and I don't remember which ones GM is using in the Camaro.  You can get them at Walmart, Radio Shack and Autozone and such places.

Most car radios need about 15 or 20 amps to supply enough current for the radio to get to full power.  Maybe more if you are driving a powerful radio.

Also, for aftermarket radios often times they are supplied with an inline fuse port that is part of the hookup wires to the battery supply.  They work just fine and take the round glass buss type fuse.
