I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo limited 4X4, and the DVD player doesn't play while the car is in drive. Is there anyway that you can turn that off so i can watch a movie, if I'm going on a long trip or what not?

No, it is restricted by law (in most places) to have the dvd player operational while driving - when in view of the driver.  Exception is for those in the back seats, but for the driver and front passenger it is restricted by law in many places and the car manufacturer does not want the liability.

If the dvd player is not working in the rear seats when in drive, that is a flaw in the operation of the player and you should get Chrysler to repair it under warranty.
