Audio Systems: Subwoofer problem, exact model number, denon receiver

Question
QUESTION: I purhased a new speaker system (Infinity TSS) to go with my Denon receiver about 1 year ago.  For the past few months, the subwoofer "kicks on and off".  The sound is completely gone and the LED will go from green to red when this happens.  It does not matter which input the receiver is set on.  Any advice?

ANSWER: Is the sub a powered sub?  I'm assuming that it is.  The indication is that the amp has shutdown in what is caled protect mode.  If it turns itself back on, I would guess that the amp is getting too hot and teh thermal shutdown is kicking in.  Have you noticed if it shuts off sooner when you are really crankin' it?

QUESTION: The sub is powered and it does turn itself back on.  The process appears to be random.  The sub is seldom put to the test (ie not cranked).

Answer
OK.  This could be a defective coupling cap that is allowing some DC voltage to pass through to the amp.  This would tend to heat up the amp and shut it down.  I'm afraid that this is not something that can easily be diagnosed remotely.  Send me the exact model number and I'll see if there have been any common failures.
