Audio Systems: JVC Turntable, audio cables, phono plug

Question
I just finished repairing my old JVC L-A11 Turntable. I replaced the belt and the connectors on the audio cables.
Since I've repalced the connectors I can no longer get any sound. Granted I have not used this in 20 years, but could  have improperly connected the connectors? Or is the PHONO plug on the receiver a possibility?

Thanks in advance
Jurgen

Answer
If you don't have a meter to test the cables then you should turn the volume up on your amplifier while switched to phono, make sure that the tonearm lift is down, take a paper clip, open it, remove the head shell and gently touch each one of the 4 contacts with the paper clip to hear a hum. If you hear a hum then it's probably either the head shell contacts or the cartridge connection. If not then it may be the connectors that you soldered to the audio cable.
