Audio Systems: AIWA Turntable PX-E860U, motor shaft, screw driver

Question
AIWA Turntable PX-E860U: After we moved to our new house and carried this turntable together with the stereo system I bought together, the turntable stopped working. The stylus arm goes up and down, but the turntable does not rotate. I opened to see inside, but could not tell what was wrong. The belt looked ok. Any advice instead of buying a new one?

Answer
Usually the belt is wrapped around a motor shaft located about 8:00 (o'Clock) under the flywheel. In most cases it came off the motor shaft and you need to stretch it back on. Just to be sure, while the turntable is on squeeze your fingers around the motor shaft to see if it's spinning. If it is then there should be an opening on the turntable flywheel (you will need to turn the flywheel until the motor can be seen),that allows you to slide an instrument (like a small slot blade screw driver) between the inner part of the flywheel and the motor.

You should be able to find a PDF on the Aiwa website under tech support, manuals or equipment downloads
