Audio Systems: Sony SA-WMS230 subwoofer with no sound output, portable cd player, sony str dg800

I have an older active subwoofer Sony SA-WMS230 that gets power but no bass or sound output.  Everything plugged in and speakers levels set proper on Sony STR-DG800.  I even took apart and fuse is not blown.  Any ideas?

There are several possibilities. The first to suspect - and I hope not - the voice coil of the driver has gone open.

The second to suspect is the amplifier output has give up the ghost.

Try a different input; drive it from an mp3 or portable cd player or the like to see if the cable from the receiver or its output is bad.
