Audio Systems: Problem with car audio system, pioneer deh p9800bt, power amp

Question
I recently purchased a 98 Audi A4 and it has a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT... it's wired through an amp and into the speakers.  The car sat for about 2 months and when i went to drive it, the sound would cut out and stay out.  Every once in a while it would come back on, but now it won't at all.  When it did work, there was a buzzing when playing a cd.  That may be because it doesn't have a ground wire i don't think.  But, would that be the problem?  Is there a quick solution to what u think could be wrong?

Thanks,
Jeff

Answer
If the ground wire to the power amp is loose or intermittent that could account for it.  Or, just about any wiring that is not secure and connected solidly could be the problem.

I suggest you check out all the wiring.  If you have a VOM and no how to take voltage and resistance readings that would be good.  You can easily check them electrically.  If not, do a visual inspection of all the wires, especially those coming to and from the power amp.

Good Luck,
