Audio Systems: Virgin STB to Home Theater audio connection, dual phono, mail id

Question
QUESTION: I have a my VCR connected to Virgin STB and the output from STB is fed to the TV input socket through SCART.  Additionally I have by Home Theatre(HT) connected from the STB through a optical cable.   While audio from Virgin channels is being broadcast by the HT speaker correctly, there is no audio output when the TV is tuned to VCR.   My assumption is the audio output from STB is both of VCR and the cable.   Can you please help me in this case.

ANSWER: I have long left the world of VCR's. If I was to use the abbreviations for current A/V technology you too would be lost. SQB to a A/V balun via Ethernet to a summing amp. Can you decipher that?

Are you in the pro radio business? I ask that because you referred to broadcast. Also used in the Internet world.

QUESTION: Hi Thanks for your prompt response.

Here is my connection details

Video connection is as follows

a) VCD scart is connected to STB Scart In.
b) STB Scart Out is fed to DVD Scart In.
c) DVD Scart Out is fed to the TV.

Audio connection is as follows

a) STB Optical audio out is connected to Home Theatre Optical Audio IN
b) DVD RGB out is connected to Home Theatre through a dual phono phono cable.

In the above connection I am able to listen to audio from HT only when STB is played.  There is no audio when either DVD or VCD is played

My Question here are

a) Since VCD is connected by Scart to STB and with optical audio connection to HT from STB, when VCD is played audio should be available?
b) Since DVD is the final source for audio/video to TV, the audio output fed into HT should play audio irrespective of the source (DVD/STB/VCD).

I created a pictoral representation of the set-up at my place, unfortunately there is no option to upload the file.  Please let me know your mail id, I can send across the pictoral view.

Thanks
Jagan

Even with a block diagram of your system I wouldn't be able to understand what the configuration of your HT receiver is. My guess is that in the menu set up there should be the ability to switch from SPDF to optical to analog. Unlikely that your receiver would have auto sensing for it's inputs or outputs but then again I try not to spend to much time researching disposable consumer technology so I could be wrong.
