Audio Systems: No Power To Head Unit, honda civic dx, rca cables

Question
I have a '95 Honda Civic DX and for over a year I've had a Pioneer DEH-P3800MP head unit installed, just recently i decided to pull out the head unit to plug in some RCA cables to i can play my IPOD. It worked fine until I push the head unit back into the dash, now I can't get any power to my head unit. I also noticed my dome light doesn't work and neither does the beeping sound to the drivers door when left open. All the wires look fine none are pulled out, and the fuse on the head unit isn't blown. What do I do?

Answer
You must have disrupted some connection or shorted out some wires when inserting the rca cables somehow.

Check the fuse of the domelight.  You will likely find that its fuse also protects the door chime.  If you replace that particular fuse and it blows again quickly you have a shorted condition that is causing it.  Probably the set, when pushed back in causes a cable or connector or something to push against another wire or chassis creating a short to ground.  Something like that.

Hope this helps you track it down.  Best wishes,
C
