Audio Systems: 2001 dodge neon r/t, rubber grommet, dodge neon

Question
I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out where to run my power cable in my 01 neon for my amp. it is a 4 ga wire so i can't just tuck it anywhere. the biggest problem is trying to find a decent spot in the firewall to run it through. what is the best way to go about getting some power to my amp?

Answer
Yes, this is often a simple but major problem to solve.

Sometimes you can find space around the big rubber grommet that the steering column shaft goes through.

In any case, if you drill a new hole down by the floorboard left of where the clutch is (which is a good location so you can run the wire without too much bending along the floor down by the door egdes) you must make sure the hole is closed up to keep engine fumes out of the cabin.

What I have done is drill the hole large enough and when the wire is in place, anchor it with clips or something to keep it from moving around then fill the hole and around the wire with mortite compound or rtv rubber cement or something that seals that opening good and tight.

Does this help?  Let me know how it goes.
