Audio Systems: DVD/VCR problem, chevy suburban, vcr tv

Question
We have just purchased a used 2002 Chevy Suburban w/a factory installed DVD/VCR/TV unit mounted in the roof. The make is an Audiovox. The problem we are having is that there is sound coming into the left ear piece of all the (wireless) headphones and only static in the right ear piece of all the headphones. These are just purchased, brand new headsets. would you have any idea of what I can do to fix this problem?

Answer
Based on your description of the symptoms I can only assume the right channel amplifier/transmitter.

First, check that you are getting a clear InfraRed signal to the headphones; no blockages in the pathway, etc.

Secondly, check the speaker systems to see if they are all working correctly.  If all other audio is working okey you can assume the infrared transmitter is the problem.  If the right channel speakers have the same noise problem then it could be the audio amplifier.

So, you must do a little more testing before you know where the problem is.  I think a local repair/install shop can easily fix it; but it may take some testing to pin down the exact location of the culprit.

Hope this helps.
