Audio Systems: Amplifiers, power acoustik amps, ohm load

Question
QUESTION: Hi, i just bought polk db212-2 subwoofers (seen here: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4jAoswLBHOY/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=107DB2122&) and i was wondering what 2 amplifiers would make these subs run best (Bang for the buck) thanks!

ANSWER: Polk makes good stuff. You will like them.

It requires an amp with a 2 ohm load specification. So choose an amp that will not overpower them and has the 2 ohm rating and you will do just fine.

When you get them installed just be careful not to overdrive them. If your amp is overpowered it can burn out the voice coils. If it is underpowered the clipping of the amp under overdrive can cause coil burn, so either way you must be careful and not get too "bass" crazy.  But, you will find these will really pump out the old vibrations.

You can find good deals on amps at Crutchfield, BestBuy, CircuitCity and so on.  And, you only need one amp, not two.

QUESTION: hi can you offer any suggestions on specific amps? how are power acoustik amps?

Answer
I don't give product recommendations because there are so many subjective factors involved in the purchase decision.

But, amplifiers are much more perfect in their accuracy or high fidelity than are the loudspeakers. So, any good brand with a good reliability record will do you fine.  If you are a golden ear than you should study the reviews, visit lots of shops, listen and talk with other golden ears and make the decision accordingly; otherwise, buy on price, power and reliability factors.

Best wishes,
