Audio Systems: wiring for surround sound system, sharp aquos, connector cable

Dear Cleggsan,
    I`m trying to install a sony compact av system but I can`t get it to work. first let me list the components;
    1- scientific explorer 250hd cablevision box
    2- sony compact av system dav-fc7
    3- sharp aquos lc-52d64u liquid crystal television
  I have a 3 connector cable (audio L & R/ video) and a 2 connector cable (audio L & R) plus some other cables.
  I would be very grateful if you could tell me the hookups needed  from the cable box to the compact av box to the aquos television and the cables nessarsary to get this system to work.

My recommendation, if the cable box has audio outputs is to go from the cable box directly to the av system with the audio and the video to the tv.

But, there are many possibilities and it depends to a great deal on what you are hoping to accomplish with your system and if you will be using the pip feature, etc.

Best way, most often, is to get the basic hookup going and then alter or enhance as you go along making sure you know what the additional hookup is going to be.
