Audio Systems: Ford Freestyle DVD repair, 2005 ford freestyle, wiring harnesses

Question
My DVD player in my 2005 Ford Freestyle died (the player keeps trying to expel the DVD unsuccessfully).  Ford wants big $ to repair and no one locally will touch factory installed system.  Is there some place out there that I can ship my DVD player and have them fix it for a reasonable fee?

Thanks
Ed

Answer
No.  I don't think you will find anyone "reasonable". But maybe acceptable.  Why don't you drop in at a nearby install/repair shop.  Often they can do it better and much cheaper than t dealer.

Another possibility is replacing the entire unit with an aftermarket system of your choosing.  Crutchfield will give you a listing of the items that will fit in it and provide instructions and wiring harnesses if you need them.

Go to the above.

Also, you can purchase replacement oem units for some models at:

http://www.oemautosound.com/c-173-oem-factory-radio.aspx

If you don't find the one you need contact them and sometimes they have it or can get it.  The only one listed there is available at $330 - which may be cheaper than getting repairs done - maybe not.

Hope this helps.
