Audio Systems: Home Cinema, cinema market, impedance load

Question
Hello

I hope you can assist?

I am very new to the home cinema market and I know nothing of ohms and such like. I already have a all in one unit which i have become frustrated with. i have now purchased a new AV receiver as this will help cure some connection issues I have. The question I have is that the amp says 6ohms but my surround speakers that i want to use (can't really afford a new set) say 3 ohms .... can I use these speakers or am i heading for a smokey mess??

Please help!

Answer
As long as you don't parallel two speakers along the same leads you shouldn't have a problem. If you want to be safe, while your listening at a high volume you should place your hand on the receiver and see if it's running hot. As long as it runs fairly cool you won't have issues with the impedance load.
