Audio Systems: Pioneer Receiver, pioneer receiver, pre amplifier

Question
When I am watching TV in high def on a digital signal the audio portion cuts out every once in a while just for a split second and then continues to brodcast normally. This continues to repeat for as long as I have it on digital dolby on my receiver. If I switch to a analog signal then it brodcasts without any problems. Do you think that my cable box is to blame or do you think that it is something with my pioneer receiver? Thank you for your help!!

Answer
The question as to whether it's the receiver or cable box is valid. I suspect the cable box but to be sure you could check the audio output directly out of the cable box. To do that you would need to have another pre-amplifier, receiver or recording device. Any of those items will work. The idea is to connect the output of the cable box to the input of one of those devices and then a pair of headphones to the headphone output of the same. Frankly I am not a fan of cable companies, so I would put them to task to replace the box before you even spend time to troubleshoot it.
