Audio Systems: 2004 Tacoma radio, mobile amps, external amplifier

Question
I wanted to know if you can use the stock radio to hook up a sound system, and how do I remove it?

Answer
Yes, you can add an external amplifier and speaker systems to any head unit - if you are smart enough and know how to do it!

For example, there are many mobile amps that have both low level and "hi" inputs.  The hi input allows you to bridge directly from the speaker lines into the external amp.  You can hook up without removing the head unit.

If you want lo level inputs - for better audio sound quality - you must determine if the head unit has rca outputs on the back.  Usually, that means pulling the unit out of the dash to get to the back side.

Here are some I/O devices for the 2004 Tacoma.  They may be of help to you along the way.
