Audio Systems: MULTI DISC PROBLEM, microprocessor chips, mechanical operation

Question
Hi I have a Pioneer PD-Z81M and I am using it with a 6 disc multi changer. All has been in great order until we moved home. Now when I press play or random play the cd player takes a disc, rejects it then moves on to the next disc until all six have been tried. Do you know the problem and is it easy to fix ? Many thanks Nik

Answer
I have moved on from CD hardware primarily because of this  weak links in their design. Each of these multi disc players uses microprocessor chips that have been burned to respond to basic commands. They are flawed because the mechanical operation can be stymied by an uncommon series of commands, movement of the machine while still plugged in, discs left in the slots during transport, two discs inadvertently put into one slot, etc. If there were a reset button, as on a computer, to zero both the mechanics and electronics, then the fix would be simple. Short of disconnecting power for a few minutes there is probably not much you can do. Since it's more than likely out of warrantee I would not recommend authorized service.
