Audio Systems: 1992 Toyota Landcruiser, volt ohmeter, car stereo system

Question
Hi, I was just wondering if you could help me with my car stereo system? I am putting in a new cd player deck (since my old one has had it) and I am having trouble in determining with wirers are responsible for what function in the car (basically which one is for the front speakers, the power, the grounding and so on...). Maybe if you know of a link to a diagram that could help. Thanks alot.

Answer
You can look at:

http://installdr.com/InstallDocs/Toyota/PDF/869017.pdf

which may not be too far from your Landcruiser.

Also, www.crutchfield.com and installer.com have various wiring harnesses which allow you to have a disconnect and then adapts the cars system to the output leads of your aftermarket system.

In the worst case you will need a continuity tester or a volt-ohmeter (Walmart tool section for $9.83) and trace out each speaker pair, label them and then make the connections with solder, etc.

Hope this helps,
