Audio Systems: 04 maxima, nissan maxima, external amplifier

Question
QUESTION: my question is i have an 04 nissan max and i want to add an amp to my interior speaker but im having problems with the bose system that was equipped with the car i have ran wires to each speaker now to the unit but i cant get any sound when trying to play the amp on the speakers how do i install this amp any suggestions

ANSWER:
Not sure I understand the question.

So, you have the Bose system?  That is a problem of sorts because Bose is not a standard manufacturer.

I am not sure what you are doing; your question does not tell me if you are adding a new head unit or just adding a booster amplifier (which is what is seems you are doing).

See the hi-lo adapters in  http://www.installer.com/hilo/  for the Nissan maxima (way down on the page) and tell me if that may help or not.

Some Bose systems in maxima's have the power amp buried inside the speaker package rather than in the head unit or external amp. You can tell if yours is this way by looking up from inside the trunk at the rear deck speakers.  If this is the case, you must replace each entire speaker to drive with external amplifier.

If you are installing an extra amplifier to drive the speakers and you already have them hooked up to the new amp?? Then you must make sure the new amp has the two 12v lines connected.  One is for constant power to the amp, the other is a turn on line coming from the ignition or the head unit.  If your amp has a high input you can use that from a speaker line off the head unit/amp or if the head unit has rca outs you can use that (but most Bose do not have compatible outputs for add-ons).

If I have confused you, please reply back to me with the make, model number and hookup arrangement that you are wanting to achieve and we can discuss in more detail.

QUESTION: I'm sorry to confuse you i have an 2004 nissan max with bose w/o nav and i replaced my door speakers with aftermarket speakers but my problem is i had to run wires to each speaker to the head unit and now i want to hook up an amp on my mids and highs i have an pioneer avh-p5700dvd head unit and i can't seem to get sound i'm lost trying to hook up the wires behind the unit b/c the factory wires are patched into the bose amp i see have u ever help install or intalled a system in a nissan maax before with bose factory system and converted to aftermarket

Answer
It is not a straighforward matter because of the non-standard system that bose uses.

If there are any bose equipment pieces still in the car you must remove them all.  The entire bose system must be gutted out and you just start over again.

There are some good pictorals on the web on how to remove all the bose stuff and install complete aftermarket systems.  You can find them by googling for them.  I just don't remember where they are at off the top of my head.

There are some adapter cables at http://www.installer.com/wires/ that might be some help.  When you go to that page, go towards the bottom to find them.

Hope this helps.
