Audio Systems: 2002 Camry HU question, jbl system, rca output

I have the upgraded JBL stereo in my 2002 Camry and I was wondering if it is possible to hook up my subs (alpine type r's) and amp to the factory HU or if I will have to buy an aftermarket HU. Thanks for any help!

Yes, most hu will hookup.

You might go to www.installer.com and look through the hi-lo converters if the head unit does not have rca output feeds for sub amps.  

The subs, if they are self powered with built-in amplifiers will do well.  If they have hi inputs you can bridge directly to them from speaker line outs of the hu.

If the subs are not self powered you will need an additional sub amplifier to drive them, of course.

PS: I don't have time this evening because of job pressures to look up your JBL system, but mostly JBL car systems do have sub pre outs somewhere on the HU. If not, you must use a hi-lo adapter OR wire it up by yourself.
