i need a receiver for my home office, i listen to XM 99%of the time. my room is 12x12, and need to match with a set of speakers...i love good quality but of course don't want to spend a ton of money... usually listen to it quite low, receiving calls all day, but between call turn it up, mostly listen to jazz and rock...years ago it was simple, today there is just too much to choose from....help....

Answer
If most of your listening is at low volumes in a room 12 x12  you don't want to create a whole lot of sound energy and then have to deal with accoutrements in the room and precise speaker placement. The small Bose Freespace systems are ideal and forgiving for small spaces and they will give you a nice full rich sound at higher levels. As far as a receiver goes, at low price points you should look surf for name brand equipment. Minimum of 50 watts per channel should be adequate. Look for features that appeal to you.

Similarly any small speaker system made by a known manufacturer will probably work fine.
