Audio Systems: 03 Altima PY520 headunit, signs of life, t power

Question
CD player stopped working. It takes any CD, tries to play it for a few seconds, produces popping noise in the speakers, and spits CD out.
Now, I took out whole unit and hooked it up to DC power suplye
at home. Unit doesn't power up, only CD motor activates for a  few seconds. I suspect that it's anti-theft system, but not sure.
What do you know about the prolem and that unit itself.
Thank you in advance.

Answer
No, if it were the anti - theft system it would not power on at all but would come up on the display for you to enter the code. Only after the correct code is entered will it power up.

There are other problems with the unit.  If the cd motor is spinning the whole head unit should show signs of life.

You should either replace the whole unit or have it serviced at an install/repair shop who can put it on their bench and troubleshoot it.  There are many, many possibilities.  Further, the repairs may be prohibitively expensive considering the age and features of this unit compared with the cost of an aftermarket replacement.

Hope this helps.
